안양우체국 집배원 봉사단 빨간우체통, ‘제4회 사랑의 김장담그기’ 행사 개최
김장 380Kg 희망세움터 장애아동 20여 가정과 희망세움터 급식소 등에 전달

안양우체국(국장 정동준) 집배원이 주축인 봉사단 빨간우체통(단장 임영선)이 희망세움터에서 지난 12월 7일 제4회 사랑의 김장담그기 행사를 개최했다.
빨간우체통 봉사단원들은 김장을 380Kg 담가 희망세움터 장애아동 20여 가정과 희망세움터 급식소에 전달하고 석수3동과 충훈동 지역의 취약계층 5가정에 김장 및 쌀 등을 포함해 30여 만원 상당의 생필품을 전달했다.
희망세움터 난치병아동돕기운동본부에는 현재 80명의 장애아동들이 등록돼 있다. 센터를 이용하는 장애아동들은 주 40여명 정도. 희망세움터의 자체 재정만으로 운영하는데 여러 가지로 어려움이 있어 지역사회 주민의 후원과 자원봉사를 절실히 필요로 한다.
빨간우체통 임영선 단장은 누구보다 이런 사정을 잘 알고 있어서 빨간우체통 봉사단원들은 점심봉사, 프로그램 멘토, 꽃나무 심기행사, 봄, 가을나들이 등 봉사자가 필요할 때면 어느 곳이든 빠지지 않고 동행해 아동의 안전을 위해 최선을 다하고 있다.
임영선 단장은 오는 12월 23일(월) 열리는 희망세움터 산타잔치에도 참여해 장애 아동들에게 기쁨과 행복한 시간을 함께 하자고 회원들을 독려하고 있다.
임영선 단장은 “앞으로도 안양우체국과 빨간우체통 봉사단은 힘닿는 데까지 희망 세움터 아이들을 위해 꿈과 희망이 되어주는 작은 역할을 다하고 싶다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
안양우체국 빨간우체통 봉사단은 2004년 결성됐다. 현재 회원은 28명이다. 이들은 안양우체국 직원. 집배원과 가족. 안양우체국 고객으로 구성돼 있지만 주축은 집배원들이다. 이들의 봉사 재원은 주로 회원들의 회비로 충당된다. 봉사 열정이 남달랐기에 넉넉하지 않은 재정으로 21년 봉사활동을 펼쳐왔다.
집배업무는 그동안 환경미화원 건설노동자와 함께 3D 업종으로 분류됐다. 빨간우체통은 자신도 어려운 환경임에도 불구하고 오랫동안 봉사활동 펼쳐 소속기관 내에서 귀감이 되었고 지역사회에도 조금씩 알려져 다양한 언론매체에 보도되기도 했다. 그동안 봉사공로를 인정받아 빨간우체통은 우정사업본부가 주관하는 2022년도 제7회 우정사업본부 봉사대상, 33회(임영선)·41회(안정웅)·42회(이영석) 경인봉사대상을 수상했다.
빨간우체통이 앞으로도 그늘진 지역사회에 빛과 소금 같은 존재로 남기를 기대해 본다.

380kg of kimchi delivered to 20 families with disabled children at Hope Seumteo and Hope Seumteo cafeteria
Anyang Post Office (Director Jeong Jong-jun) mailman-led volunteer group Red Mailbox (Director Lim Yeong-seon) held the 4th Love Kimchi Making Event at Hope Seumteo on December 7.
Red Mailbox volunteers made 380kg of kimchi and delivered it to 20 families with disabled children at Hope Seumteo and the Hope Seumteo cafeteria, and delivered 300,000 won worth of daily necessities including kimchi and rice to 5 families from vulnerable groups in Seoksu 3-dong and Chunghun-dong.
There are currently 80 disabled children registered at the Hope Seumteo Incurable Disease Children’s Support Movement Headquarters. Approximately 40 disabled children use the center each week. Hope Seumteo has difficulties in operating solely with its own finances, and so it desperately needs the support and volunteer work of local residents.
Director Lim Yeong-seon of the Red Post Office knows this situation better than anyone else, and so the Red Post Office volunteers do their best to ensure the safety of the children by accompanying them wherever volunteers are needed, such as for lunch service, program mentoring, flower tree planting events, and spring and fall outings.
Director Lim Yeong-seon is also urging the members to participate in the Hope Seumteo Santa Party to be held on Monday, December 23rd, and share a joyful and happy time with the children with disabilities.
Director Lim Yeong-seon expressed his aspiration, saying, “In the future, Anyang Post Office and the Red Post Office volunteers want to play a small role in becoming a source of hope and dreams for the children of Hope Seumteo to the extent possible.”
The Anyang Post Office Red Post Office volunteers were formed in 2004. There are currently 28 members. They are Anyang Post Office employees, postmen, and their families. Although Anyang Post Office consists of customers, the mainstay is postal workers. Their volunteer resources are mainly covered by membership fees. Because they have a passion for volunteer work, they have been volunteering for 21 years with limited finances.
Postal work has been classified as a 3D industry along with sanitation workers and construction workers. Despite its difficult environment, Red Post Office has been a role model within its affiliated organizations by performing volunteer work for a long time, and has become known to the local community and has been reported in various media outlets.
